as far as i know normal cars in real life don't turn themselves off after half a minute of idling. so whats the point of having that in the game?

i took a bunch of back fire samples to try and get it to sound right in lfs. took a while but i managed to get 2 decent sounding ones. let me know what you think if you try it out.

i've attached preview mp3s along with it but make sure you turn your speakers down before opening them because they are VERY LOUD. for some reason it's not as loud in lfs.

just load it up like any other dump valve files and turn the volume up and muffler down.

sigh... cmon guys, you're turning this into a witch hunt.

i think that's because the rule that limits the hp tends to favor diesels that makes massive torque at the same hp as petrols. anyways, would be interesting to drive.

i wouldn't mind a diesel car in lfs, or a rotary for that matter...

oo finally a modern production car being put into lfs. i hope the devs continue to release more in the future. my idea of a perfect car game is the physics of LFS with the car library of GT4 or 5.

am i not seeing the download links or is this still work in progress? would be nice to try them.

ahh i see. thanks for the comprehensive reply. i just had a very thorough go again on a faster track after your instructions. and this time i do hear the backfire. the randomness of it's occurrence seems odd. it happens more often on the upshift and usually only if you shift fast. i was expecting more of a lift-off backfire, where you hear a bang everytime you lift at WOT.

ok this is VERY FRUSTRATING!!! i installed CSR again just to get backfires and everything works except for backfires!!! i can't hear any backfires when everything was set up normally. so i thought maybe it's being drowned out by other noises. so i turn down the lfs default volume til it's barely audible and then i turned every sound in CSR off leaving backfire on. but i still hear no backfire!!!

yeah but that only applies to single core p4s. the new core 2 duo intels are more efficient than AMDs.

it's not normal. lfs physics can't handle those kind of curbs very well yet but expect it to be fixed by the devs.

I personally love the BF1. It's the only car I've been racing seriously since it came out. The speed is so addicting I get bored racing anything slower. The reaction time it takes to drive that car at a competitive level could be tiresome for some but for people like me it's an awesome challenge that brings tons of excitement. Just got back from racing it on westhill for the first time and I must say it was more scary than fun hahaha, couldn't even see some of the corners until i hit the apex. EXTREMELY fun though!

wow. most people on lfs forum hate drifting but this is one heck of a video. pretty sure anyone would enjoy watching that.
